Aspiring Primary Headteachers Programme 2025-26
The aim is to develop aspiring headteachers: giving the leadership skills, depth of knowledge, theory, breadth of understanding and confidence to take on the challenging but exciting role of being a headteacher.The programme will strengthen the impact of leaders within their current schools and give them the confidence, skills and knowledge to apply for and successfully secure a headship in the future.
This 7-session programme is designed to link to the cycle of school improvement. There will be a series of seminars and visits to schools to see and learn from successful headteachers.

Five Fundamentals of Effective Classroom Practice 2026-27
A series of whole-day training sessions for headteachers and leaders of teaching and learning.
The new Ofsted framework has identified leaders’ impact on the development of teaching as a key area of focus. This training will develop school leaders’ instructional leadership capacity and their effectiveness in developing the quality and consistency of teaching across all classes.

The Effective Headteacher Toolkit 2026-27
The Effective Headteacher Toolkit (formerly 5 Fundamentals of Effective School Leadership) is a well-established LA approach to enhancing and refining the skills and effectiveness of experienced headteachers. The training has, to date, been attended by over 100 headteachers from across Hampshire and beyond.
This series of workshops for experienced headteachers looks at five fundamental aspects of successful school leadership. The sessions explore how to be a highly effective headteacher in a period of competing pressures on your time and resources.

We will consider what makes an irresistible curriculum and what are the core principles which need to be in place to make this happen. What are they? Are they really in place? How do we know?

Primary Safeguarding Networks 2026-27
This network focuses on the practical leadership and oversight of safeguarding and child protection in schools.
The district network is facilitated by the local LLPR with some input from Cindy Pritchard (HIAS Lead Safeguarding Adviser).
These sessions are aimed at senior leaders and are designed to enable effective oversight of safeguarding. Each session focuses on a different aspect of the leadership of safeguarding. There will also be opportunities for participants to discuss local contextual safeguarding issues, problem solve and share best practice.
Please note, this network is the continuation of existing networks that have been running in Fareham and Gosport and Havant and East Hants but is now offered across the county at a district level. Sessions run concurrently across other districts, meaning attendees can attend alternative group sessions should dates clash.
Important: This network does not replace statutory DSL training and is separate to any existing DSL networks.

Hampshire Primary Curriculum Conference 2026
A full-day conference offering the opportunity to explore and share effective approaches to curriculum design, drawing on practice from across Hampshire and beyond.
The programme combines a mix of morning presentations with afternoon workshop sessions, providing both strategic insight and practical application. Delegates will be able to select up to two workshop sessions during the afternoon.
This year’s keynote speaker is Emma Turner, who has over 28 years’ experience in primary education, including roles in teaching, headship and system leadership across multi-academy trusts. Now an independent consultant working nationally and internationally, Emma is the author of six bestselling books on curriculum, cognitive science and leadership, and co-host of the “Mind the Gap” podcast with Tom Sherrington. She is a highly regarded speaker on curriculum design, research-informed practice and staff development.
Emma will also lead an afternoon workshop session, with a focus on curriculum planning in mixed-age classes offering a further opportunity to engage with her work in more depth.
