A School Management Tool – including the School Self-Evaluation Model
Derek Myers and Stuart Adlam originally developed the School Self-Evaluation Model when Stuart assumed leadership of a school causing concern. It emerged from the need for a robust and credible approach to evaluating the impact of leadership on school improvement, while also providing a comprehensive evidence base for the school’s self‑evaluation (originally the SEF) in preparation for Ofsted. The model was designed to make effective use of limited time and leadership capacity and, crucially, to build leaders’ confidence and belief that meaningful improvement was both possible and achievable.
