Investing in School Leaders Conference on 1 March 2024
The power of you - working together to empower, invest and support school leaders
A conference for Hampshire primary, secondary, special and education centre headteachers and heads of school, (including interim and acting headteachers).
We are acutely aware that the role of headteacher and that of senior leader in a school is hugely rewarding but undoubtedly can be challenging. This is especially true with the tensions of staff recruitment, the challenges around the mental wellbeing of both young people and staff, along with the changed culture around parental engagement and expectations following events of the past few years.
Many of you responded to the survey in the autumn term, which clarified the aspects of significant concern for you. It also reflected your wish to access practical support in developing yourself and strategies to manage times of pressure. Additionally, it highlighted your interest in finding out more about coaching and supervision, as well as peer networks.
This conference, with support from Education Personnel, HIAS, Governor Services and the Education Psychology team is bringing together school leaders across the county to focus on you as headteachers.
The value of you as individuals and your role cannot be underestimated and therefore it is important that we work together to support, invest, and empower you, given the challenges of modern headship. You will hear from some excellent external speakers all experienced in the field of headteacher support, managing challenges, building resilience, and supporting leaders in different ways. They will also touch upon details of current activities being undertaken in Hampshire.
The aim of the day is to provide a range of supports through access to speakers, networking links and practical resources to enable headteachers to evaluate their own strategies and approaches and strengthen their networks.
Please do take this time to prioritise coming to this session - it is aimed at you as individuals whether new to headship or very experienced. We are keen to work in partnership with you all.

The conference is being held at the Hilton Ageas Bowl, Southampton. The price below is for the full day conference and includes lunch and refreshments.
