    A full day conference for Hampshire schools

    Join colleagues from across Hampshire for an inspiring day of professional learning, reflection, and collaboration, all centred around the theme of the Irresistible Curriculum.

    Morning keynote: Jonathan Lear

    The day will commence with award-winning teacher and education consultant Jonathan Lear, known for his thought-provoking and practical insights. His keynote will explore key areas including:

    • Purpose and vision.
    • Sequencing and progression.
    • Curriculum and project planning.
    • Subject development and assessment.

    Jonathan’s session will challenge and inspire you to think deeply about what makes a curriculum truly irresistible.

    Afternoon sessions: local voices, practical support

    The afternoon features presentations from local school leaders, sharing real-world experiences of research, adaptation, and embedding curriculum change.

    You’ll also take part in table-led discussions with colleagues, offering practical guidance on developing effective curriculum designs and strategies.

    Connect, collaborate, reflect

    Throughout the day, there will be plenty of opportunities to network, share ideas, and reflect with colleagues on your curriculum journey.

        Jonathan Lear
        The Importance of Effective Curriculum Design

        Described as having a breath-taking understanding of how to engage children, Jonathan Lear is an award-winning teacher and education consultant. He has worked for many years on a compelling mix of inspirational teaching strategies, and has shared his passion for learning as an AST, deputy head, and associate of Independent Thinking Limited. 

        What Jonathan does is to bring the curriculum to life for children of all backgrounds and academic abilities through a combination of exciting and authentic real-life experiences, coupled with teaching children the skills of peer critique, mastery, thinking for themselves and taking a huge amount of care and pride in their work. 

        It is a no-nonsense approach to bringing the best out of children that hits all the right buttons when it comes to Ofsted and SATs, even though hitting the Ofsted and SATs buttons is the last thing they are trying to do. The importance of oracy and critical thinking in digitally literate primary schools.

        Apart from being a first-rate educator and leader, Jonathan is also making a name for himself as an entertaining and challenging speaker who never fails to entertain and enthral an audience. Drawing on his experience both in the classroom and as a deputy head, he is not only able to share with his audiences many practical ideas to improve the quality and nature of teaching and learning in the classroom, but also an understanding from a leadership position of how to make change happen - and what might get in the way.
